René Herse - The reference book by Jan Heine
A sublime book about this brilliant creator that every lover of beautiful machines must have on their luggage rack!
"René Herse created extraordinary bicycles, more elegant, more efficient and today more sought after than those of almost any other brand. Discover the fascinating and rich history of the famous manufacturer in this 424-page book, the result of more than 10 years of research and interviews with dozens of people, members of René Herse's family, workers and riders.
René Herse started out making aircraft prototypes, which gave him his expertise in light alloys. He presented his bicycle components at the 1938 machine competition, where his bike caused a sensation: the complete bike, with mudguards, wide tires, lights and a luggage rack, weighed only 7.94 kilograms. In 1940, in the middle of the war, he began to offer complete bicycles and not just components.
